Unsurprisingly it was another Macallan that took the top spot in an overall rather excellent auction. This time the 1949 50-year-old millennium decanter was the winner with a hammer price of £25,100. Heavy hitters dominated the upper end of our latest auction. The 2018 release of Macallan 52-year-old being the top dog this month with a final hammer price of £51,000. Followed hard on the heels by the 55-year-old second edition in the Lalique series and the 62-year-old Lalique at £50,000 and £41,100 respectively. Evidently, the thirst for these top-end Macallans isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

A beautiful whisky and a scarce thing on the secondary market, it wasn’t surprising to see it fetch a very healthy £50,100. Following hard on its heels was another Bowmore, the 1966 50-year-old in a stunning wooden cabinet of which only 74 bottles were produced.
