WHISKY ONLINE AUCTIONS TASTING NOTES:
PORT CHARLOTTE CASK #905
Colour: Gold.
Nose: Rich, clean and pure with a very precise balance of peat, coal smoke, oils and coastal character. Very briny, soft notes of lemon juice, farmy touches and some increasingly pure medicinal notes. Lots of raw antiseptic, bandages, gauze and embrocations. The medicine really developed impressively while still retaining this triumvirate balance of peat, salt and smoke.
Palate: Soft peat with some fragrant bonfire smoke, green pepper, brine, soot and sheep wool. Rather oily in texture and still very towards coastal characteristics with seawater and saline minerality. Well balanced and retaining a similar freshness as on the nose. Develops notes of hessian, anthracite smoke, tar and smoked fish.
Finish: Long and rather ashy with lemon peel, sea salt and pure peat smoke.
