A very dark single cask Glenlivet 1971 27-year-old bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society in 1999 with the SMWS code 2.32 and title ‘Prunes and Chocolate’. As you’ve probably already surmised, this was a first fill sherry butt of Glenlivet’s 1971 vintage and as this is the SMWS we’re talking about it’s been bottled without colouring or chill filtration at its natural cask strength, which in this case was 54.2%. There were apparently 507 bottles of this gorgeous-looking dram bottled back in 1999 - we’d wager there’s not too many left today.
