February Auction Highlights 2019

Due to the sheer volume of interesting whiskies in our February auction, we're going to do things a little different this month. Apart from the dedicated Blog about all the Diageo releases in this sale, we will rattle through whiskies bottled during numerous decades as well as individual distilleries and a haul of Islay Festival releases. It's worth mentioning a large proportion of the whiskies featuring in this sale originate from a single collection bought from the late 1970s up until very recently.

January Auction Results 2019

Our last auction ended with a hefty slew of impressive and interesting prices. Not least a Macallan Lalique 55-year-old second edition which crowned the auction off at £45,100. Not a record for this bottle but a sign of a significantly healthy market for old Macallan. No surprises there, but it will be interesting to see what 2019 has in store for this auction behemoth of a brand.

If there’s ever a whisky worthy of the word ‘legendary’, it has to be the Black Bowmore. And if you’re ever going to splash out and buy one, I would certainly look no further than this example. Sadly, the Black Bowmore’s are usually notorious victims to the ‘Angel’s Share’ and particularly the first editions; which many have been officially re-sealed over the years due to their wax seals. November Auction – Casks Held In Bond – Tasting Notes

This month’s auction features three whisky casks that are currently maturing in Scotland. First up is a an excellent, and at times unusual Macallan. This would currently yield approximately 208 x 70cl bottles of whisky currently at 28 years old.
