Established in Linlithgow in the 18th century, it became part of Scottish Malt Distillers before finally closing in 1983 during the widespread rationalisation of the Scotch whisky industry. Much of the site was subsequently redeveloped, making surviving whisky from the distillery increasingly collectable.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Rare Malts Selection provided some of the earliest opportunities to experience St Magdalene as an official single malt, with this 1979 vintage becoming one of the best-known releases from the distillery.
