This St Magdalene was matured in a single oak cask and bottled at a substantial natural strength of 58.7%, without the addition of water or other additives.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSt Magdalene, also widely known as Linlithgow after its home town in West Lothian, was one of the great lost Lowland distilleries. Founded in the late 18th century, it survived until 1983, when it was closed during the widespread rationalisation of the Scotch whisky industry, and the distilling equipment was subsequently dismantled.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAn especially interesting early bottling of St Magdalene, drawn from whisky distilled eight years before the distillery closed.
