The distillery, also known as Linlithgow, closed permanently in 1983 during the widespread rationalisation of Scotland’s whisky industry, making mature examples from these earlier vintages increasingly scarce.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGordon \u0026amp; MacPhail were particularly important custodians of whisky from closed distilleries, having secured stocks from St Magdalene long before its reputation among collectors became established.
