This 15 year old single malt was drawn from an Oloroso sherry cask and released as Society cask number 110.2, carrying the tasting description 'Dry \u0026amp; Nutty Like A Good Walnut Oil'.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOban is one of Scotland's oldest working distilleries, established in 1794, and is unusual in being situated in the heart of the town that grew around it. With just two pot stills, Oban has always operated on a relatively small scale, and independently bottled examples are considerably less common than those from many other Highland distilleries.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis early SMWS release offers an interesting look at Oban's character through sherry cask maturation, with the Society's original tasting notes describing sweet sherry aromas, floral and ginger notes, and a rich, dry nuttiness that carries through to the finish. The spirit has a fine, sweet, sherry nose which, with water, shows sulphur over flowers and ginger. The taste is quite douce: sweet, then dry and nutty, like a good walnut oil. The finish shows no change, for all of the taste lasts right through.
