This release underwent a second maturation in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, adding a rich, sweet dimension to the Islay malt’s smoky character.

The Distillers Edition range explored how an additional period in specially selected wine casks could complement each distillery’s established style. For Lagavulin, the choice was Pedro Ximénez, a naturally sweet sherry whose casks bring dried-fruit richness to sit alongside the distillery’s powerful peat smoke. It’s a combination that became a defining feature of the series, offering a fuller, sweeter interpretation of this much-loved Islay malt.

This 1980 vintage comes from the early years of the range, making it an appealing opportunity to revisit an older generation of Lagavulin and explore the beginnings of one of its best-known releases.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0529/0036/4446/files/0726-191-1_131e1dbc-2c60-420c-b9e5-0d92e8ccf16c.jpg?v=1793220667
