Millennium Malt. 70cl. 40%. In presentation box.

A special limited-edition Glenmorangie 12 Year Old released to celebrate the arrival of the new millennium. Appropriately named Millennium Malt, this bottling was created using only Glenmorangie's very best first-fill casks and was bottled at 40%.

The whisky was laid down around 1987/88, specifically with the millennium release in mind. Glenmorangie states on the packaging that research conducted since the 1980s had shown that 60–70% of the distillery's distinctive flavour characteristics came from the quality of the casks in which the whisky matured, leading to a rigorous wood-management programme.

For the Millennium Malt, casks normally used twice for Glenmorangie were instead restricted to the very best first-fill examples, selected to accentuate the whisky's vanilla, butterscotch and honey characteristics.

An interesting turn-of-the-millennium Glenmorangie and a great example of the distillery's early emphasis on wood management and first-fill maturation.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0529/0036/4446/files/0726-189-1_57e5073c-7c10-40a8-a52a-51dc48fdb486.jpg?v=1793223608
