The superb Port Ellen 21-year-old Maltings Anniversary bottling was released in 1998 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Port Ellen Maltings, which opened in 1973.

This whisky is presumably from the 1977 or 1976 vintage of Port Ellen and was bottled at its natural cask strength of 58.4%.

The fact that these bottles were released only to Diageo employees and were never on sale to the public made this bottle highly sought-after by collectors, a factor multiplied by the outstanding quality of the whisky, which is frequently referenced among the finest Port Ellens ever bottled.
